Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m relieved that the election is about over. I hope you have found the time to vote, no matter which candidates you support. However, all those candidates smearing each other isn’t a positive environment I like to be around. The millions of dollars that are spent on negative ad campaigns boggles my mind. I sincerely wish that money could be used to do good in this world rather than bombard all of us with such negativity.
I am pleased to know that Atlanta Women’s Connection is looking to spread some “sunshine” and goodwill to us all! Our new “Sunshine Committee”, led by Beth Athanassiades, is kicking off this month (see article below) and I’m looking forward to spreading more cheer within our group.
Speaking of cheer, lots of youth will be warmer and cheerful with new coats from the generous women of Atlanta Women’s Connection. We broke a record for participation with our volunteer efforts with this latest drive. We have nearly 50% participation in our volunteer gifting program, supporting Inspiritus and their coat drive. Our efforts will ensure that every child at Inspiritus will have a warm coat for the cold weather ahead. I’m thankful for that! If you want to know more about this program and what Inspiritus is all about, come to our Meet & Eat event on November 7th and/or read the article in this month’s newsletter.
During this season of giving and thanksgiving, I know I’m thankful that I’m surrounded by the many wonderful women of Women’s Connection and grateful I can participate in many of the activities we have going on. I’m grateful for all the women who volunteer their time, talents, and tide in support of this organization. We know that Presidents are temporary, but friendships are long lasting. So, in the spirit of giving, I hope you give yourself permission to try out a new event or activity with the women of Atlanta Women’s Connection.
Also, I hope that you enjoy family, friends and food with your loved ones on Thanksgiving. If you know of anyone who is alone, or without their family, I hope you invite them to your Thanksgiving feast. I promise you, you will not regret it.
Thanks again to all those who help make Atlanta Women’s Connection so special and for all your giving spirit during this month of giving. We are truly blessed.
In Thanks & Gratitude!

Interested in virtual events offered by national and other chapters? Select 'Events Open to All' from the Atlanta Women's Connection home page on the website. | | | The Atlanta Women’s Connection Chapter is built upon connections and caring. Another way we can show support for one another is remembering our fellow members when they have “joys or concerns.” Our chapter is proud to announce the pilot of a “Sunshine Committee.” The goal of the committee is to reach out to chapter members who have had an illness or accident, death of a loved one, as well as to celebrate good news, like retirement.
Beth Athanassiades is leading the pilot. If you know of a member who could benefit from a Sunshine Committee card, please send Beth an email. Beth will then send the card to the recipient, handwritten from “Your friends at Atlanta’s chapter of Women’s Connection.”

| | | WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK!
PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO HELP US DESIGN OUR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Several years ago, our Chapter’s Volunteer Committee surveyed the membership to determine members’ interests in volunteering though the Chapter and selecting priorities for volunteerism. Based on the results, our Chapter identified Inspiritus (immigrants and children) and Children Read Atlanta (children) as the non-profits that we would support. Since our membership has increased by nearly 400% from the time we conducted that original survey, we would like to obtain your input to update our approach so that we can continue to make a lasting impact in our community.
We appreciate your time in answering a few questions to help shape that approach. The survey should not take more than 10 minutes to complete. Thank you for your time in completing this survey. We appreciate your help in developing our chapter’s approach to IMPACT.

NOVEMBER MEET AND EAT
INSPIRITUS COAT DRIVE CELEBRATION
BASILS
NOVEMBER 7, 2024
6:30pm-8:30pm
Join us for our November Meet and Eat event at Basils as we celebrate the phenomenal success of our annual coat drive, where we will present 202 new children's coats and 26 gently used adult coats to our partners at Inspiritus. As a result of your contributions, every child will be receiving a coat this year. Thank you so much to all who participated for your generosity!
We also express our deepest appreciation to Sue Ahmed for leading this coat drive. Sue, together with several other member volunteers, packed up 17 boxes of coats to be delivered at this event!
During dinner, we will have the opportunity to hear from a representative from Inspiritus about the important work this organization is doing with children of refugees and other groups.
If you haven’t already donated to our coat drive for Inspiritus, please feel free to bring a new child’s coat or gently used adult coat to the dinner.
A nonrefundable $5 registration fee will be required at registration to cover reservation cancellation charges.

Hello Atlanta Women's Connection,
A new show on Apple called Disclaimer stars Cate Blanchett, Kevin Kline and Sasha Baron Cohen (with a terrible toupee). So far, 4 episodes have dropped. There are 3 more. Cate Blanchett appears to be a very bad person but please keep watching.
On Netflix, look at Nobody Wants This. A rabbi (Adam Brody with a beard and yarmulke) and a non-Jewish woman (Kristen Bell, a podcaster) start a romance. Kristen Bell brings pork to the rabbi's parents' house. It's quirky and funny. The first season is finished. It's extremely likely there will be a second season.
There's a reboot of a movie called Mr. and Mrs. Smith, originally played by Brangelina in 2005. This one is played by Donald Glover and Maya Erskine and it's on Prime Video. I haven't watched it but I'm starting it tonight. The trailer is fabulous.
I think I recommended Line of Duty a couple years ago. It's on Acorn TV. Great acting, 6 seasons. Adrian Dunbar stars. Take a look.
See you in December. Have a good November.
Brought to you by Sharon Lewin.

Transition peer groups (TPG’s) are informal groups composed of 8-12 members who meet on a monthly basis. These groups provide a safe and supportive environment in which women may have thought-provoking and stimulating conversations relating to career or personal transitions. Peer groups provide opportunities for connection, new friendships and mutually supportive exploration. Peer groups are one of the key benefits of being a Women's Connection member.
Currently the Atlanta Chapter has Peer Groups in Decatur, Sandy Springs and Perimeter areas, Cobb, Gwinnett , North Atlanta, as well as an In Town group. If you are interested in becoming a part of a peer group, or are interested in starting one close to your area, please contact JoAnne D’Aleo (jld726@gmail.com).
