Atlanta Women’s Connection Spreads Warmth with Over 200 New Coats for Inspiritus’ Annual Hope Tree

Empowering, Engaging, and Connecting Women in Their Second and Third Acts

Atlanta, GA – December 6, 2024 – Women’s Connection – Atlanta recently supported Inspiritus’ Annual Hope Tree campaign, joining in to keep Atlanta area children warm this winter.

Decatur resident Susan Ahmed, one of Women’s Connection – Atlanta’s community volunteer co-chairs, spearheaded the group’s annual coat drive once again this year and set an ambitious goal to exceed 2023’s donations by 100%. Members enthusiastically responded and donated over 200 brand new winter coats for children, infant through teen sizes, as well as a number of gently used adult ones.

"Each year, Inspiritus resettles a significant number of refugees as they begin their journey from surviving to thriving, and our Hope Tree campaign is the opportunity for us to give the gift of warmth to refugee and immigrant families," said Sarah Burke, community engagement manager at Inspiritus. "Our goal is to provide each of the 600+ clients we resettled this year with a warm coat for the winter, and this is made possible by the generosity of those in our community like Women's Connection - Atlanta who donated 204 coats this year. Each year, we are humbled and grateful to bring smiles to the faces of those who have faced significant challenges in adjusting to their new lives."

Women’s Connection – Atlanta’s chapter co-chair, Carol Camerino, continued, “Our group of engaged and committed women always rises to the challenge. With Sue Ahmed at the helm of this service project, we were confident we’d be successful. Huge thanks to our members for their generosity and support. It is gratifying to our entire membership to be part of this important initiative.”
