Joining a Women's Connection committee is a great way for any member - new ones included - to meet new people, use your talents and have some fun. Join the members who are already a part of our chapter's leadership team.

If you're interested in any of the committees listed below, please contact the chair to learn more.  If you have an idea for a committee that doesn't exist today, let us know at nyc@ttnwomen.org.

Committees

Caring Collaborative Council
The Caring Collaborative is the program within Women's Connection that focuses on health and wellness. Volunteer members offer each other assistance during times of medical need. They also share information about their personal experience of health conditions and health providers. Educational programs and a quarterly newsletter provide current information to help maximize fitness and vitality.

The Caring Collaborative Council (CCC) is the executive committee of the Caring Collaborative (CC). We meet monthly to ensure that the CC is functioning at a high level and continues to meet the needs of CC members.
Our scope of work includes:

  • Recruitment of Women's Connection members for the Caring Collaborative
  • Orientations: Supervising and recruiting presenters and hosts
  • Neighborhood groups: Supervising and recruiting new organizers, hosts, and facilitators
  • CC Coordinator supervision
  • NYC Caring Collaborative Website: Updating content
  • Caring Times Newsletter: Writing and editing Caring Collaborative Presentations: Identifying topics and speakers; managing the events

Explore NYC
arranges docent led tours of interesting and diverse cultural and artistic venues in New York City, including virtual events. Explore NYC arranges for relatively small groups of members and guests, usually 15 to 18 women, to visit places in NYC they may not know to learn about art and artists, architecture and architects, small museums with important collections, houses of worship that have significance in New York City's history, and walk the city seeing with a different eye. Events provide an opportunity for members to get to know one another in an environment of mutual interest, and include a chance for lunch or coffee afterward. Explore NYC also arranges Mingles, minimal-cost events with a cash bar held at fun and friendly places in our city's varying neighborhoods. They allow a larger group of members and friends to discover new places, meet, share conversations, and network. The committee would like new volunteers who are interested in developing programs that appeal to our diverse membership.

Life Transition Services (LTS)
This is Women's Connection innovative suite of professionally led transition workshops and activities. LTS programs are designed to help us navigate the changes we are experiencing. They challenge us to "dig deep" and identify the values, passions and experiences that will help us define a new life full of meaning and purpose. Importantly, the programs are action oriented, ensuring that participants come away with a plan that will get them excited about their future.

Marketing & Communications Committee
The Marketing & Communications Committee works to strengthen the Women's Connection brand and thereby enhance external and internal communications.  Our goals are to broaden our chapter’s visibility, help increase membership and support our current members.  Specifically, we have been established:

  • To assist various committees as needed with development of communications materials to attract and engage new members, and help retain existing members.
  • To provide communications guidelines for various committees to create a unifying Brand identity, tone and voice for communications to various Women's Connection constituencies.
  • To provide outreach materials, contacts, and publicity to build brand awareness and solicit new members.
  • To identify the best vehicles for communications to reach internal and external audiences.
  • To build a social media presence and partnerships with complementary organizations.

Member Services Committee
The Member Services Committee welcomes new NYC Chapter members and helps jumpstart their involvement in Women's Connection according to their interests and goals. Committee members reach out to all new members by telephone as soon as possible after joining and periodically throughout their first year of membership. We also respond to membership inquiries and referrals and follow-up with prospects to discuss Women's Connection and encourage their interest in joining. In addition, we contact guests who attended chapter events to explore their membership potential. The Committee continually considers new ideas to engage, involve and retain members.
Committee Responsibilities:

  • Call all new members to: welcome them to Women's Connection, describe the many opportunities available to them, inform them about upcoming events, encourage engagement, respond to questions and connect them to other members and committees, as appropriate. Many calls result in meetings for coffee, lunch, etc. Maintain telephone contact at scheduled intervals during their first year.
  • Host and/or attend monthly receptions to: introduce new members to others; describe the benefits of membership and suggest various ways to become active and engaged. Receptions also provide an experience of the community and connection that the Chapter offers. (Hosting receptions is voluntary and not required of committee members.)
  • Welcome ongoing member requests for assistance and support throughout their first year of membership and beyond, as needed.
  • Respond to prospects/referrals who have expressed interest in exploring membership. Identify others who have attended events as guests and discuss their interest in membership.
  • Develop ongoing strategies for stimulating new member engagement and collaborate across committee lines to smooth the new member onboarding process.

To join the Member Services Committee, it’s important to be an active Women's Connection member, remain up-to-date on our chapter’s programs and events and enjoy connecting with new members by telephone and in person. The Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month, excluding August, from 4 – 5:30 PM in Manhattan (via Zoom at present).

Peer Group Committee
Transition Peer Groups (TPG'S) & Special Interest Groups (SIG's) are a unique benefit of TTN and are the heart of the organization. Our committee organizes and launches new Transition Peer Groups; assists & supports Special Interest Groups that are initiated by TTN members; organizes quarterly meetings of Transition Peer Group Liaisons (appointed by each Peer Group) to exchange ideas and information; and maintains the Transition Peer Groups & Special Interest Groups section of the TTN website.

If you would like to join our committee, form a new Transition Peer Group or Special Interest Group, or have questions about joining an existing group, or you want to add to or change a Transition Peer Group or Special Interest Group listing on the New York website.

Program Committee
creates innovative and appealing programs throughout the year for TTN members and guests. These include a broad variety of social, cultural, intellectual and fun events & speakers which align with the interests and issues of our membership. Events include speakers on a variety of topics, author events, the Annual Summer Cocktail Party, the Annual Holiday Luncheon, Pot Luck Dinners at members’ homes, Mingles, tours, cruises and more.  The committee would like new volunteers who are interested in developing programs that appeal to our diverse membership.
