The November selection for our Movie SIG is The Children Act!
Based on Ian McEwan’s novel, The Children Act stars Emma Thompson and Stanley Tucci. Thompson plays a British High Court judge facing a deeply personal and ethical dilemma: whether to order a lifesaving blood transfusion for a 17-year-old whose religious beliefs prohibit it.
As her marriage falters, her involvement in the boy’s case challenges the boundaries between professional duty and personal compassion. The film offers a compelling starting point for discussion about faith, individual choice, and the responsibility to protect a young person’s welfare.
