 pioneering geneticist, virologist & philanthropist

December’s session will highlight the life and career of Dr. Mathilde Krim (1926–2018) was a pioneering geneticist, virologist, and philanthropist who became one of the world's most prominent advocates for HIV/AIDS research and public health reform. She was a research scientist and the co-founder and long-time chairman of amFAR (the Foundation for  AIDS Research).  She leveraged her scientific expertise, political connections, and star-studded network to strip the disease of its early stigma and raise millions of dollars for treatment and clinical trials.
