NYC (P) Harlem’s Hidden Murals: West 135th Street center of the Harlem Renaissance (11 AM)

About this event

Monday, November 16, 2026, 11:00 AM

Depicting various aspects of Black life and tucked away in important institutions along 135th Street, the murals are part and parcel of the famed Harlem Renaissance. On this tour, you will be guided into normally off-limits spaces to see and hear about how 135th became a cultural, civic, and business center of Black life in the 1910s through the 1930s and beyond.

Tour will start at Harlem Hospital entrance (north side).

*Optional Lunch - Pay-On-Your-Own
After the tour, we’ll head to a nearby restaurant for an optional lunch. Please plan to bring cash to cover your meal.

Our Guide: Mark Satlof
