Inspiring Women: Mya Lin
 artist, architect & environmentalist

November’s session will highlight the life and career of Maya Lin is an artist, architect, and environmentalist best known for designing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. At just 21, while an undergraduate architecture student at Yale, her design was chosen from 1,421 submissions. Its stark black granite walls, inscribed with the names of the dead, were initially controversial but have become one of America's most meaningful memorials.

Lin went on to create the Civil Rights Memorial, museums, architectural projects, and environmental artworks. A recurring theme in her work is the relationship between people, memory, history, and the natural world.

She achieved enormous recognition very young, faced intense criticism, and nevertheless remained committed to her vision.

Pat was a fintech manager for 25 years, and her last decade of work was in nonprofits focused on STEM for youth.
