NYC (P) Come Tour The Players Club…Founded in 1888 by Shakespearean Actor Edwin Booth (11 AM)

About this event

Thursday, October 29, 2026, 11:00 AM

Players need not be actors, though performers have been part of its DNA since their founding by the legendary Edwin Booth in 1888. Players were here before Broadway became Broadway, and we have been present since the beginning of radio, motion pictures, television, and new media.
Our docent-led tour will share the rich history of The Players Club. And lead us in an exploration of the clubhouse, a mansion on Gramercy Park built in 1847, a treasure of the Gilded Age, and named a National Historic Landmark in 1963. The Players Club is the oldest New York City membership club still in its original home.

In recent years, the club has experienced its most significant growth in generations, while preserving its tradition of convivial, easygoing friendships among its arts-loving members.

*Optional Lunch: Pay-On-Your-Own
After the tour, we’ll head to a nearby restaurant for an optional lunch to continue the conversation about the walking tour and enjoy each other’s company. Please plan to bring cash to cover your meal.
