NYC (P) – Brooklyn's Best Kept Secrets: From Historic Heights to DUMBO's Waterfront (4 PM)
About this event
Tuesday, September 1, 2026, 4:00 PM
Begin in Brooklyn Heights, New York's very first suburb and one of its most storied historic districts. Here, history is on every corner. Stand in the church where Abraham Lincoln worshipped. Walk the route that freedom-seeking enslaved people traveled along the Underground Railroad. Then take in one of the most breathtaking views in New York City at the legendary Promenade, where Manhattan's skyline unfolds before you.
The literary giants claimed Brooklyn Heights too — we'll visit the home where Truman Capote penned Breakfast at Tiffany's and the residence where Arthur Miller courted Marilyn Monroe.
From there, we head to DUMBO — Brooklyn's former industrial waterfront, now home to its most vibrant and affluent community. We'll trace Brooklyn's remarkable story from its earliest days to today, with sites connected to George Washington, Washington Roebling, Walt Whitman, Jane's Carousel, the Manhattan Bridge, and the new Time Out Market Food Hall.
Two legendary neighborhoods. Centuries of history. One unforgettable walk.
*Optional Dinner: Pay-On-Your-Own
After the tour, we’ll head to a nearby restaurant for an optional dinner to continue the conversation about the walking tour and enjoy each other’s company. Please plan to bring cash to cover your meal.
