NYC (P) Mt. Vernon Hotel Museum Tour & Wine Tasting
About this event
Monday, August 10, 2026, 4:00 PM
As we prepare to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country’s founding, we go back in time as we take a classic tour of the 200-year-old Mount Vernon Hotel. Built in 1826, the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum and Garden is a NYC landmark.
In the 1820s and 1830s, men and women would travel from crowded downtown Manhattan up to “the country” and the Mount Vernon Hotel to spend a day enjoying fresh air and leisure-time activities.
A trained docent will help us travel back in time as we explore eight historical rooms and hear fascinating stories of New York City history, from what people ate and wore, the music they listened to, their favorite pastimes, and how they flirted.
After our tour, we will enjoy a historically inspired white wine tasting with light refreshments in the garden (weather permitting, otherwise in the historic Tavern) to help immerse ourselves in the hotel’s period.
*Optional Light Meal / Wine: Pay-On-Your-Own
After the tour, we’ll head to a nearby restaurant for an optional light meal, nosh, coffee, or wine to continue the conversation about the walking tour and enjoy each other’s company. Please plan to bring cash to cover your meal.
