LI (P) - Feeding the Frame: Cuisine & Cinematic Meaning
About this event
Feeding the Frame, Cuisine & Cinematic Meaning
Food operates as a cinematic and cultural language, shaping narrative, Character and identity. This
lecture examines both symbolic food moments in a broader context (The Godfather, Pulp Fiction) and
works where cuisine is central to the plot (Big Night, Chef. Tampopo).
Greg Blank, award winning filmmaker and video journalist with over 15 years of production
experience as a producer, director, and cinematographer, will explain how meals on screen
reflect themes of desire, memory, migration, labor and power.
