Join us for a 2-4 mile hike in the C&O Canal National Park in Potomac, MD. We’ll start by hiking the Ford Mine Trail (2.1 miles), which features beautiful wooded scenery, several stream crossings, overgrown historic ruins, one hill, and several rocky sections. After that, we’ll walk to the Aqueduct Observation Deck and take in the gorgeous view of the Potomac River. If folks want, we can continue our hike along the Potomac Trail, which runs alongside the Potomac River, offering additional magnificent views of the river and its rapids.

Location
There is a park fee of $20 per car to enter the C&O Canal National Park so we plan to carpool into the park from the Giant parking lot in Potomac Village, which is about a 5-minute drive from the park. The address for Giant in Potomac Village is 9812 Falls Road, but the Giant parking lot is best accessed from River Road, just north of Falls Road. If you are traveling north on River Road, the entrance to the Giant parking lot is the first stop light after Falls Road. Turn left at this light to enter the parking lot. Once in the parking lot, turn left at the first row of parking spaces. That is where we will park. We plan to take two cars into the park so we are limiting the hike to 10 people. Attendees will not need to contribute to the park fee.
