Stops include landmarks such as the infamous “Bloody Angle,” the headquarters of Chinatown’s first “boss,” the spot where Irving Berlin wrote his first song, the only remaining 17th-century landmark in Manhattan and many more.
We will explore:
- Canal & Lafayette Street -- origin of Canal Street
- Canal to Baxter -- Columbus Park (*restroom here)
- Baxter to Worth -- Five Points
- Worth to Chatham Square
- Chatham to Shearith Israel
- Chatham to Mott
- Mott to Pell -- the birth of Chinatown, its oldest section; 1801 Church of the Transfiguration
- Pell to Doyer -- 12 Pell (Irving Berlin’s first song written here)
- Doyer to Bowery -- "bloody angle," opera house, secret tunnel, Nom Wah
- Bowery to Canal -- 1785 Moody House; Bulls Head Tavern; Bowery Boys gang headquarters

Our Guide: Mark Satlof

Mark Satlof is a fourth-generation New Yorker and a 40-year-plus habitue of Chinatown. He is a licensed New York City Sightseeing Guide and a regular guide for Untapped New York. He received a BA in History from Columbia University. In addition to sharing his knowledge of NYC as a tour guide, Mark is Senior Vice President of Shore Fire Media.
