Forest bathing, also known as Shinrin-yoku, is based on the Japanese practice of immersing oneself in nature using all five senses to improve health and reduce stress. Coined in 1982, this therapeutic practice from the Medical University of South Carolina lowers cortisol and blood pressure and boosts immunity by inhaling phytoncides (volatile organic compounds emitted by trees). It involves slow, aimless wandering in nature, ideally for 20 minutes to several hours.
This 2-hour session, led by certified forest therapy guide Adria S. Zeldin, will guide us through mindfulness-based sensory invitations to help us slow down, awaken our senses, and reconnect with nature.

What to Wear
Please dress comfortably with the weather in mind. We will be outdoors and moving slowly, so you may want to bring an extra layer. The trail is on natural surfaces with dirt, rock, and ruts. The steepness varies, and some trails will only be accessible with stairs.
