LI (P) - Long Island and its Challenges (March 19 1:00 - 2:30 PM ET) -- CANCELED

About this event

Long Island and its Challenges

From Shinnecock Bay to other majestic waterways to the smallest plant on Long Island, what legacy will we be leaving our children?  Join the Contemporary Social Issues Committee as we present Dr. Adam Charboneau,  Faculty Director of Sustainability Studies at Stony Brook University’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences to explore the topic. He investigates redevelopment and sustainability in Long Island using case studies as a means of experimental learning.

Dr. Charboneau will examine Long Island’s most pressing environmental challenges while
highlighting opportunities – through key sustainability initiatives – to make our communities a
template of resiliency. From restoring the Shinnecock Bay to rewilding and community
gardening, to testing the carbon sequestration capacities of ancient ferns.
