Scott Arboretum comprises 357 acres located on the campus of Swarthmore College (https://www.scottarboretum.org/). This idyllic Arboretum is often named one of the most beautiful in the country. Located just 11 miles from Philadelphia, the rolling hills, flowering trees, and hiking trails offer a welcome nature escape. The Arboretum was established and endowed by the Scott family in 1929 in honor of Arthur Hoyt Scott "for the purpose of enabling Swarthmore College to acquire, cultivate and propagate the better kinds of living trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants which are hardy in the climate of eastern Pennsylvania and which are suitable for planting by the average gardener." The mission of the Scott Arboretum & Gardens is to delight, educate, and inspire visitors to enjoy the many benefits of horticulture, whatever their resources or expertise. Its “gardens of ideas” feature plant varieties that thrive in our region, encouraging wise stewardship as well as the cultivation of plants to sustain the body, enchant the eye, and soothe the spirit.

The Arboretum contains over 4,000 kinds of ornamental plants, labeled with scientific and common names, and grouped in collections for ready comparison. It is celebrated for its horticultural excellence and display.

Following our private Arboretum tour, we are offering the optional opportunity for you to purchase lunch at the nearby Inn at Swarthmore and also to stay for a tour of Swarthmore College's transformative Geothermal Plant. We will touch base with you closer to the event, to find out if you plan to stay for lunch and to see the Geothermal Plant.

Scott Arboreum is a 30-minute ride from Center City and is accessible directly from the Swarthmore Station stop on Septa's Elwyn Wawa line.

Please note that the cancellation deadline is 6/17/26. Should you need to cancel before this date, credit will be issued to your WC account, to be used for future purchases.

Also note that by registering for this event you will be granting your permission to have your image in photos used for Women's Connection publicity purposes. Please notify the event organizer should you prefer not to be included.

Cancellation Policy:

If you are a member and cancel your registration before the specified deadline, you will receive a full refund as a credit to your account. You can use the credit to pay for another event or put it toward your annual dues payment. Non-members will receive a refund on their credit card, minus a $4 processing fee.

No refunds are available to members or non-members after the cancellation deadline.
