The movie for May 15, 2025, is "The Friend" --at an earlier time than usual (meet at 11:15 to see an 11:30 showing).
Based on the bestselling novel by Sigrid Nunez, writer and teacher Iris (Naomi Watts) finds her comfortable, solitary New York life thrown into disarray after her closest friend and mentor (Bill Murray) bequeaths her his beloved 150 lb. Great Dane. The regal yet intractable beast, named Apollo, immediately creates practical problems for Iris, from furniture destruction to eviction notices, as well as more existential ones. Yet as Iris finds herself unexpectedly bonding with Apollo, she begins to come to terms with her past, and her own creative inner life in this story of healing, love, and friendship.

Club Description
Do you love the movies? Do you like to share your thoughts and reactions with others? Join us every third Thursday for a movie and some discussion - it's like book club, but with popcorn and no homework!

We meet for an early afternoon showing each 3rd Thursday at a theater accessible by public transportation and near gathering place options. No limits on the genre. The exact time and chosen film will be a mystery until theater schedules are posted. Participants will need to buy their own tickets. We will gather for refreshments and discussion after the film.

Registration will open when the selected movie is posted, usually the Friday before. Join the Film Club Email List to get a reminder at that time.
