DC (P) Lunch and Tour of the Clara Barton House 062125
About this event
Join us for lunch at noon followed by a tour of Clara Barton’s Victorian-style home in Glen Echo, MD.
This 45-minute tour explores the many stories of Clara Barton's amazing life, as well as the history of her unique house. From 1897 until her death in 1912, the house served as both her residence and headquarters for the organization she founded, the American Red Cross. With Barton at its helm, the Red Cross assisted disaster survivors in eighteen peacetime relief efforts in the U.S. and abroad. Her house and many of her personal artifacts became part of the National Park system in 1975. It was the first park dedicated to a woman.
