A Discussion with Professor Robin Judd
Host: Karen Townsend
Date: February 17, 2025, 6-8 pm EST
Location: Virtual via Zoom
Join us for an interesting discussion with Professor Robin Judd, who will talk about her research and reasons for writing her book Between Two Worlds: Jewish War Brides After the Holocaust. The book tells the stories of Jewish women who survived the Holocaust, married Allied soldiers, and issues they faced in their new homes. It was released in December 2023 and has garnered two National Jewish Book Awards and was named a finalist for the 2024 Ohioana non-fiction award.
Robin Judd is a professor of History at The Ohio State University where she teaches courses in Holocaust studies, the history of antisemitism, the history of religion, and the history of leadership. She is the author of Contested Rituals: Circumcision, Kosher Butchering, and German-Jewish Political Life in Germany, 1843-1933 and Between Two Worlds: Jewish War Brides After the Holocaust. In recognition of her work in Holocaust studies, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine appointed her to Ohio’s Holocaust and Genocide Memorial and Education Commission in 2021 and reappointed her in 2024.
Since Fall 2021, Professor Judd has served as the director of the Hoffman Leaders and Leadership Program in History and currently serves as past President of the Association for Jewish Studies and the Chair of the Leo Baeck Institute’s Faculty Advisory Board. She has received seven teaching awards and three service awards.
