About this event

Can you have a calm discussion when you deeply disagree?

Women’s Connection partners with Braver Angels for a free workshop on Skills for Conversations about Public Policy and Race

Maybe you’ve taken Women's Connection’s workshops on ‘Unpacking Whiteness’ and ‘Allyship’—yet, when you want to be an Ally, still struggle to have a valuable interaction. Or maybe you just can’t talk anymore with a loved one or cherished friend because the disagreements are so deeply felt.

Conversations are challenging these days. People on both sides, but especially The Other Side, are speaking emotionally, not listening to reason! How would you like to be the calm voice that can turn talking (yelling?) into real communicating?

Women's Connection is joining with Braver Angels to offer this free workshop to give you better skills to be that voice. Braver Angels (BraverAngels.org) is the nation’s largest cross-partisan, volunteer-led movement to bridge the partisan divide for the good of our democratic republic. The workshop is designed to foster skills to help you lessen the effects of polarization when you encounter them, and get to conversations of understanding, find common ground, and build connections. Conservatives and Liberals gain an understanding of the core values and principles of those who differ from them on public policy issues, working with examples in the context of race in America. Braver Angels workshops are now reducing polarization across the country in communities, online, at colleges, in faith groups, and even in political halls.

Join us. It will reduce your stress and improve your ability to understand and to be understood.

This three-hour workshop will be presented on Zoom.
