4:30pm - 7:30pm
Boat leaves at 5:00!

You probably drive past the Meadowlands frequently. Did you know that it is a rich eco-system, home to many interesting animals? Did you know that the non-profit Hackensack Riverkeeper works to protect, preserve and restore the area and the Hackensack river? The money raised by your ticket purchase for this two+ hour cruise will be donated to the Hackensack Riverkeeper to help fund this mission.

⚓ If this event is sells out, please sign up on the wait list!  People may cancel, opening up seats, or we may be able to get another boat, perhaps at another time. There is a $5.00 cancellation fee if you cancel before August 22. As of August 22, there will be no refunds.⚓

Bring snacks or a sandwich and a beverage so we can eat while we cruise along the waterways. Please scroll down and read on for important information provided by the Hackensack Riverkeeper.

"This trip takes participants on an excursion through the lower tidal reaches of the Hackensack River and its wildlife-rich estuary, the Meadowlands. The shallow draft of our boats enables us to visit numerous wetlands including the Mill Creek Marsh, Kingsland Creek and the Berry’s Creek Canal; the highlight of every Meadowlands Eco-Cruise being the Sawmill Creek Wildlife Management Area – the “Jewel of the Meadowlands”. The Sawmill WMA is home to a staggering amount of wildlife including shorebirds, waterfowl, herons, raptors, muskrats and terrapins."

Hackensack River Keeper Information:
Regarding weather and cancellations:

1. We DO NOT conduct Eco-Cruises in the rain, or in any dangerous conditions like high winds or heat advisory; nor with credible threats of bad weather. We always err on the side of caution.
2. We monitor multiple marine weather forecasts, Doppler radar, & wait until two hours prior to the scheduled start time before canceling (unless the day’s a total wash-out).
Be sure to bring:
1. YOUR CELLPHONE. Make sure it’s charged and switched ON, so we can contact you in case of weather cancellation or if you’re running late.
2. A JACKET. Temps can be cooler on the water, especially on windy and/or cloudy days.
3. INSECT REPELLENT & SUNSCREEN. We rarely see mosquitoes, but gnats can be annoying in spring & summer. And always have sunscreen on hand.
4. WATER, REFRESHMENTS. You are welcome to bring some. Food that does not require utensils works best. Beer & wine are permitted in moderation. Smoking is prohibited.
Bathrooms
There are no restroom facilities aboard our (open) boats. There is a portable toilet adjacent to the dock area and proper (M/F) restrooms a short drive or walk from where we meet.
MORE points to note:
1. USE OUR DIRECTIONS. They are verified and accurate. (These directions will be emailed to all event registrants.)
2. DON’T RELY ON GPS. If you do use it, set it for: 1 High Tech Way, Secaucus, NJ 07094. That puts you at the Laurel Hill Park entrance. Continue straight & turn into the first parking lot on the RIGHT (just past the community garden). After parking, check in at our Paddling Center building.
3. NO NEED FOR MEDS. Our 30-foot pontoon cruisers are very stable & we travel on calm waters.
