Menstrual equity everywhere. Period.
Millions of girls miss 4-5 days of school a month because they do not have products to manage their menstruation. Days for Girls works to eliminate the stigma and limitations associated with menstruation so that women and girls have improved health, education and livelihoods.
Days for Girls International has delivered over 3.5 million patent-winning safe, beautiful, washable kits for managing menstruation — along with vital health education.
The local Twin Cities MN Days for Girls Team has made and delivered over 10,000 of those in 9 years.
Come and hear about the issue and impact of period poverty and an amazing solution.
Please join Kathy Erickson from the Twin Cities MN Team to find out all about Days for Girls.
Kathy Erickson worked in Children and Family Ministry at Park Avenue Methodist Church in South Minneapolis for several years before earning an MA in Family Education from the University of MN.
While working as a parent educator in St. Paul Public Schools, Kathy traveled to Kenya several times on a teaching project. Staying at a girl’s high school, she discovered the issue of period poverty. Horrified that many girls will trade sex for menstrual products every month in order to stay in school, Kathy discovered Days For Girls International and started a team in Minneapolis to make and distribute menstrual health kits and reproductive education.
Kathy and her husband share four daughters, four granddaughters and two great granddaughters so this project is close to the heart!
Let's plan on heading to a close by establishment for lunch after the presentation. TBD
